About.
With major support from Chevron, assistance from Imagine Learning and input from dozens of families, educators and community leaders, Chevron: Fueling Math is being led by STEM Northshore, STEM NOLA, Bayou STEM and TIES.
From public service announcements to billboards and social media campaigns featuring students and professionals, the initiative seeks to raise the public’s understanding of the role that math plays in our life, work and play.
The second phase of Chevron: Fueling Math is creation of a Math Corps, made up of volunteers who tutor and mentor area middle school students, in virtual and customized settings, about math.
The program will begin in January 2021 with events planned at various locations throughout the region for students and families to raise awareness about the importance of math.
Students will then be recruited to join online math tutoring and mentoring sessions with professionals from throughout the region who will work on specific math challenges while also sharing information about the role that math has played in their lives and work.
